No. 11 Oaks defeat SOU on mat By SOU Sports Information Dec 19, 2019 10:23 PM A A ASHLAND — Freshmen Tanner Clark, Tanner Sallee and Noah Talavera accounted for Southern Oregon’s points in a 28-9 dual-meet men’s wrestling loss to 11th-ranked Menlo (Calif.) on Thursday night at Riehm Arena. The Oaks ran their record to 4-0 in the Cascade Conference matchup, taking seven of 10 contests and getting wins from all four nationally-ranked wrestlers in their lineup. Menlo’s Anthony Orozco, the NAIA’s top-ranked 184-pounder, pinned Josh Hammers in 1 minute, 8 seconds, and eighth-ranked Joseph Dominguez (149) won by fall against Matt Peterson in 1:02. Fourth-ranked Riley Siason (125) and fifth-ranked Blaysen Terukina (133) started the night with back-to-back decisions as the Oaks eventually took a 19-0 lead by the dual’s midpoint. Talavera stopped the bleeding at 165 for the Raiders, improving to 4-1 in dual matches with a 5-3 defeat of Alex Garcia. Sallee followed that effort with his team-leading 11th victory of the season, handling Jordan Bernal in a 6-1 decision. Clark finished the night with a 3-0 win over Ryan Enciso, finishing with a takedown in the final seconds to go to 4-3 in dual action. The Raiders dropped to 3-5 overall.
