Wirth, a right-hander who played for Mount Hood Community College in the spring, struck out seven in handcuffing the RiverDogs and halting their 12-game win streak. Southern Oregon’s Mike McInerney pitched well in defeat, limiting Mount Hood to eight hits and yielding no earned runs. Mount Hood scored the only run it would need in the bottom of the third inning when Mike Hall led off with a single, moved to second and third on an error and scored on Derek Engleke’s RBI groundout. The Cardinals added a run in the fourth inning on Kasey Ferris’ RBI single and made it 3-0 in the seventh when Hall again singled and eventually scored on an error. The RiverDogs (18-9) left eight runners on base, including seven in scoring position. Babe Ruth PACIFIC NORTHWEST REGIONAL — At Nampa, Idaho, British Columbia scored seven runs in the first three innings and coasted to a 13-4 victory over Medford Red at the 13-year-old tournament. Medford Red, now 1-1 in pool play, meets Lewiston, Idaho today. Hayden Wolfe went 3-for-4 at the plate for Medford Red, with a double and an RBI. Jordan Lundgren added a pair of hits and Jordan Ellis had a single and two RBIs. Little League STATE TOURNAMENT — At Forest Grove, Danielle Goin scored the lone run for the Medford Nationals in a 24-1 loss to Pendleton at the 11- year-old Little League softball state tournament. The Nats lost all four of their games at the tournament.
